 Finalmente, el día cuando salimos para España llego y 17 chicos entusiasmados abordaron el avión para Madrid. Nosotros ya hemos comida la última comida Americana de McDonald’s y Ben y Jerry y estabamoa listos para salir de los EEUU. Después de un viaje largo, llegamos a Madrid listos para vivir la vida Española. Cuando pasamos por aduana y reclamamos nuestro equipaje, y firmamos el contrato que explica que solamente hablaremos Español, salimos del Aeropuerto Barajas y entramos al Metro de Madrid. Remena y Matt nos guiaron desde Barajas al hotel en el centro de Madrid que esta localizado en la Gran Vía, cerca de la Plaza de España. Despues de algunos errores, finalmente llegamos al hotel y empezamos nuestro día. Antes de almorzar, recibimos nuestras habitaciones y luego, anduvimos al Restaurante Gloria de Montera. Allí, comimos nuestra primera comida Española. Comimos muchos diferentes tipos de carne, pescado, pollo y también, el postre favorito de todos, el chocolatísimo. Al terminar de comer volvimos al hotel para relajarnos antes de las actividades de la tarde. Un grupo se quedó cerca del hotel y paseamos por el Gran Vía, comiendo, visitando las tiendas y relajandonos. El otro grupo fue al Estadio Santiago Bernabéu del Real Madrid donde hicimos una gira del estadio de futbol. Vimos los trofeos del club, aprendimos la historia del club y visitamos la tienda del Real Madrid. Después de la gira, fuimos a un centro comercial donde comimos algo de un café y jugamos a las cartas. Luego reunimos en un grupo en hotel donde nos duchamos y preparamos para la cena. Regresamos al restaurante Gloria de Montera para cenar. Comimos algunos platos diferentes y bastante sabrosos antes de regresar al hotel. Una vez en el hotel, nos fuimos a la terraza en el tejado del hotel donde escribimos nuestros diarios, nos relajamos y pasamos tiempo juntos antes de regresar a nuestros dormitorios para acostarnos.  |  Finally, our departure day for Spain arrived and 17 enthusiastic kids boarded the plane for Madrid. We ate our last American meals of McDonalds and Ben and Jerrys and were ready to leave home. After the long and tiresome journey, we arrived in Madrid ready to immerse ourselves in Spanish Culture. After going through customs, claiming our bags and signing our language pledge, we left the Madrid airport and entered the Metro. Remena and Matt guided us from the airport to our hotel on the Gran Vía in the center of Madrid, near the Plaza de España. With only a few errors, we finally arrived at the hotel and started our first day. Before eating lunch, we got our room keys and then walked down the Gran Vía to the Restaurante Gloria. There, we ate our first Spanish mean consisting of different types of beef, chicken and fish in addition to our favorite dessert, the Chocolatisimo. After eating, we returned to the hotel for a siesta before starting our afternoon activities. One group stayed around the hotel walking down the Gran Vía eating, visiting shops and relaxing. The other group traveled to the Santiago Bernabeú, the home of Real Madrid, Madrid’s professional soccer club. There we had a tour during which we were able to see the club’s trophies, learn about the club’s history and visited Real Madrid’s store. After the tour, we spent time in a mall where we ate and played cards. Then, we reconvened as one group in the hotel where we showered and prepared for dinner. We went back to the Restaurante Gloria for dinner where we ate different delicious Spanish dishes before returning to the hotel. There we went to the terrace on the top floor where we wrote our daily journals, relaxed and spent time together before going back to out rooms to catch up on sleep.  |
